Veneer Preparation Guidelines for Layered and Monolithic Porcelain Veneers

  • Layered porcelain needs:
    • 1.2mm incisal reduction and 1mm facial reduction from your end goal
  • Monolithic porcelain needs:
    • 0.5mm for incisal reduction and 0.6mm to 0.8mm facial Reduction from your end goal
  • Darker prep shades require more reduction
  • Key to reduction is to have 3 plane reduction, focusing on the incisal-facial third
  • Must have rounded corners to prevent issues with seating and fracture
