A Patient’s Guide to Porcelain Veneers

What are veneers?
Let’s start by discussing what veneers can and can’t do. While highly versatile in that veneers can make your smile appear straighter, brighter, and whiter, they are not a replacement for major orthodontic correction. The most common reason people choose veneers is to fix:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Mishappen teeth
  • Teeth that are mildly gapped
  • Heavily stained and/or discolored teeth
  • Teeth that have been worn down or have been chipped

Essentially, if you want to change something about your smile, veneers will get you there as
long as you’re working with an experienced cosmetic dentist.
Once you’ve made the decision to correct the things you dislike about your smile, you might begin considering veneers I happen to think you should consider veneers. For the purpose of this article, I will only be discussing porcelain veneers, but many of the same things we will discuss apply to composite resin veneers as well. To help you weigh your options so you can make an educated, informed decision, I put together a list of what I consider to be the top pros and cons of porcelain veneers.
